When Roger Quigley played drums in a small indie band from Manchester, he seemed not to have another ambition in life than to support The Fall, which is why he used to walk past Mark E Smith’s house again and again. Nevertheless, some years later, he embarked on what looked like the darkest of solo careers. Perhaps he would be placed next to those myths from Manchester – or perhaps he would have to settle for their leftover crumbs.
